Boston College offensive lineman Christian Mahogany is declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft, he tells The Sports Place.
“To Boston College, thank you for an incredible five years and for believing in me,” Mahogany wrote, “I couldn’t ask for a more welcoming place to call my home throughout this path in my life. Thank you to Coach Hafley, Coach Applebaum, and to all of my coaches and teammates who have helped me throughout my career with football and in life.”
The 6’2” 320 lbs interior lineman committed to Boston College as a three-star recruit out of Paramus Catholic High School in northern New Jersey. According to ESPN, Mahogany was the second-best offensive lineman out of the Garden State in the 2019 recruiting class and the 28th-best player in the state.
The team captain decided to take his talents to BC after shockingly being under recruited. The 23-year-old is projected to be an early day two pick with potential to go in the first round.
As a redshirt Freshman, Mahogany started all 11 games for an Eagles team that rushed for 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns. Not only did the workhorse start all 11 games, but he was on the field for all 785 offensive snaps in the 2020 season. He built off his impressive debut season by being named to the All-ACC second team. From week two through week 10, they couldn’t pry Mahogany off the field, as he didn’t miss a snap for eight straight weeks. He was honored on the PFF Team of the Week twice in 2021, once after facing Colgate and again three weeks later after playing Missouri.
Mahogany was hoping to dominate in his junior season, as he was named on the Preseason All-ACC team, but he heartbreakingly tore his ACL in a freak accident. The injury kept Mahogany off the field for the entirety of the 2022 season. In ‘23, he came back stronger.
He had an incredible comeback campaign in 2023, making the first team All-ACC team as well as becoming a semi-finalist for Comeback Player of the Year. He bullied opposing defenses in his final season and now takes to the draft hoping to help an NFL roster the same way he did in Boston.
