Mariners Trade For All-Star Hernandez

The Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays came to an agreement on a trade Wednesday morning, sending All-Star outfielder Teoscar Hernandez to Seattle, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

In return, the Blue Jays are receiving reliever Erik Swanson and pitching prospect Adam Macko.

In 2022, Swanson had a 1.68 ERA, striking out 70 batters in 53.2 innings pitched. Macko, who was the Mariners’ #8 prospect, is a left-handed pitcher who could have an imminent impact on Toronto as soon as 2024.

Hernandez, the now-Mariners All-Star outfielder .262 batting average. In 2022, Hernandez had a .267 batting average, hitting 25 home runs.
