Calvin Ridley Suspended For The 2022 Season For Illegal Gambling

A shocking development was released on Monday evening by the NFL.

Falcons Wide Receiver Calvin Ridley was suspended by the NFL through at least the conclusion of the 2022-23 season due to betting on NFL games in November of 2021.

Ridley had previously been retired from football due to mental health reasons and now will not be able to return until at least the 2023-24 NFL season.

A source told Mike Garafolo of NFL Network that the betting was, in fact on the Falcons games but the NFL said that its investigation did not find any evidence that inside information or knowledge was used to create an advantage.

Ridley tweeted about it Monday after it was announced that he was suspended, saying that he only bet $1,500 in total on the late November game. At the time that he placed the bet, he was away from the team.

Adam Schefter of ESPN said that Ridley placed multi-legged parlay bets involving 3, 5 and 8 games that included the Falcons to win.

Multiple teams called the Falcons in the past few weeks inquiring about his availability in the trade market, but according to Adam Schefter, the Falcons refused to trade Ridley in “good faith”, knowing what was next in line for Ridley.

Ridley will now look to prepare for a fresh new start in the 2023-24 season as he indicated on Twitter that he will return:
