The King Returns – Late Season Run for the Lakers?

Estimated Reading Time: 1 Minute

With just seven games left in the NBA regular season the Los Angeles Lakers, who are currently sitting in 9th place in the West, look to make a final push for the play-in tournament, which hosts seeds 9-12. James also stated that he believes this team could compete for a top-eight seed as the Western Conference is the tightest it’s been in years with seeds 2-12 being no more than two games apart from each other.

With the return of the NBA’s All-Time Leading Scorer, LeBron James, the Lakers could have their whole roster available for the most crucial time of the year. James has missed the last 13 games, returning against the Chicago Bulls last night. LeBron stated that two doctors recommended season-ending surgery but after visiting “the LeBron James of feet” for another opinion, James determined he would be able to return.

Coming off the bench, LeBron put up a team-high 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists in a 118-108 loss. The Lakers remaining opponents include the Bulls, Timberwolves, Rockets, Jazz, Clippers, and Suns as they look to build some momentum before the playoffs begin. The way this NBA season has gone so far, we can definitely expect some very competitive playoff series, especially in the West. This young Lakers team will be one to watch as long as LeBron James is in the lineup.
