Xavien Howard, Dolphins Agree to New Extension

The Miami Dolphins seem to be doing everything right this off-season.

The Dolphins and cornerback Xavien Howard agreed to a new five year deal worth just around $50 million in new money. The two sides added two more years to his deal, giving him an average of $25 million per year.

The total value of the deal is for five-years, worth $90 million. The deal is fully guaranteed and there are also incentives that if earned, could be worth up to $5 million.

Howard now becomes the first cornerback in history to have five seasons of his contracts fully guaranteed and the $25 million per year is the highest ever for cornerbacks.

Agent David Canter of GSE Worldwide negotiated this deal.

Howard, who is 28 and a former second-round draft pick, has played six seasons in the NFL and has proven to be a star. In the past two seasons, he has a combined fifteen interceptions and 79 tackles.
