Source: Seahawks and Panthers Preliminarily Discussed McCaffrey Trade

See the latest on the Panthers trade situation:

Christian McCaffrey is used to being the center of talks. Just not these types of talks.

McCaffrey is being talked about in trade talks, with numerous teams salivating at the prospects of landing the superstar running back.

While the Carolina Panthers aren’t actively shopping McCaffrey, who has rushed for 324 yards this season, they are open to offers, per multiple reports.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, “McCaffrey is receiving the most significant interest from teams” and “only an overwhelming return would cause the Panthers to deal McCaffrey.”

McCaffrey, after having an injury-riddled 2021 season, has made his return which has not disappointed. He is well on his way to surpassing his rushing yards total from last year and it seems as if a 1,000-yard season could be looming. Many teams have taken notice.

The Seattle Seahawks, sources say, were one of the teams that have looked into the scenario of trading for McCaffrey, who is one of the faces of the franchise. The two teams, Seattle and Carolina, held strictly preliminary talks and didn’t make significant progress on a deal, sources said.

No deal is imminent at this time, a source told The Sports Place.

Multiple other teams are interested as well. The Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, and Denver Broncos are four teams that are interested in McCaffrey, though only one of those teams has definitively called the Panthers, a source with knowledge of the situation said.

McCaffrey isn’t the only player that will be discussed though, as wide receiver Robbie Anderson is a player that Carolina is expected to shop.

Unlike McCaffrey, Anderson will actively be shopped, a source said, as Carolina is interested in a parting of ways.

A source with knowledge of the situation was not aware of any known suitors, but a few teams are said to be interested.

Anderson, who is 29 years old, has 206 receiving yards in five games this season, bringing in one touchdown over those games.
