PHILADELPHIA – 76ers young star Tyrese Maxey suffered a left foot injury in the first half of 110-102 win against the Bucks Friday night. Maxey was intentionally fouled in transition with 1:36 left in the first half and instantly showed visible pain as he grimaced while hopping down the court. He then went 1-2 at the free throw line before hobbling into the locker room where he was then ruled out for the rest of the game.
X-rays were performed on his foot and came back negative, but he will undergo an MRI tomorrow, per Woj.
Prior to this devastating loss for the Sixers squad, Maxey was on pace for a monster game as he had 24 points, four rebounds, and five assists on 9-12 shooting from the field and 3-4 from three.
The Sixers were already down James Harden (foot sprain) for the past two weeks and Tobias Harris. Despite the absence of some key players, the Sixers were able to come away with the win against a very talented Bucks team who are now 11-4 overall and second in the Eastern Conference. They were also missing some key players such as Khris Middleton, Wesley Matthews, and Pat Connaughton.
Joel Embiid put together another amazing performance with 32 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists. Over the last three games, he has had 133 points, 32 rebounds, 22 assists, and 12 blocks. He was the leading scorer for the game ahead of Giannis Antetokounmpo, who put up 25 points and 14 rebounds, and Tyrese Maxey who had 24 points, all scored in the first half as previously mentioned.
Rivers says that Maxey says “he’s fine”, but Rivers cautions that he’s not sure he’ll be fine right away.
Maxey is averaging a very efficient 22.8 ppg and has become an extremely important part of an Eastern Conference contender, the Philadelphia 76ers. Maxey was seen after the game in a walking boot and although that doesn’t look promising, the team and its fans can only hope for some good news tomorrow as Maxey missing time could have a detrimental effect on the team’s success.
