REPORT: Saquon Barkley, Giants Could Have Middle Ground

Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones are pending free agents. Arguably one of the top free agents in this class, Barkley could command a lot of money for a running back. Jones also could command a good amount of money.

During the New York Giants’ bye week this season, Barkley turned down a contract extension offer of around $12 million per season, according to multiple reports.

In the 2022-23 NFL Regular Season, Saquon rushed for 1,312 yards and had ten rushing touchdowns just two years after coming back from knee surgery.

With time winding down, the Giants are still looking to get their guy back at running back.

According to ESPN, there is belief that the Giants and Barkley could meet at the $14 million per year number and agree to a contract extension in that range.

Barkley is 26 years old and a $14 million per year contract wouldn’t reset the running back market. He would be the fourth highest-paid running back should he agree to a contract at $14 million.

The franchise tag has come up as an option for the Giants to use on Barkley, but some wonder if he will be insulted by the $10 million value of the franchise tag.
