Yo’Heinz Tyler and Jayshon Jackson combined for 1,264 receiving yards in 2022. Now, the pair of seniors, who were the two leading wide receivers from Ball State University, are drawing interest from NFL teams.
Tyler, a former three-star recruit from New Orleans, committed to play at Ball State beginning in the 2018 season. After three seasons playing for the Cardinals, he had over 1,300 receiving yards and was named to All-MAC third-team honors in 2020.
Jackson, a Chicago native, played at the University of Cincinnati for three seasons before transferring to Ball State in 2021.
When Jackson decided to transfer, he made an instant impact — catching 69 passes for 829 yards and five touchdowns. Jackson, Tyler (487 yds, 6 TD), and now-graduated Justin Hall (613 yds, 5 TD) led Ball State in receiving in 2021.
In 2022, Tyler and Jackson — the pair of seniors — were the two leading wide receivers on the team, complimenting the offense alongside redshirt freshman tight end Brady Hunt (498 yds, 5 TD).
Shortly after Ball State’s 2022 season concluded, Tyler and Jackson both announced that they would be declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft.
Ball State’s Pro Day took place on Monday, March 27 — exactly one month before the commencement of the NFL Draft. Both Jackson and Tyler took part in the workout and have gotten interest from teams following the conclusion of the workout.
Eight NFL teams showed early interest in Jayshon Jackson, a source told The Sports Place’s Arye Pulli. Among the teams that have showed the most interest — the Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, and Miami Dolphins, a source said.
The Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, and Miami Dolphins are three teams who have shown interest in Yo’Heinz Tyler, a source said, raising the possibility that the two former teammates could end up being teammates in the NFL. While unlikely, the possibility does exist.
With the draft now under a week away, the two receivers will only be able to wait. Almost everything in the process is out of their hands now. The teams in the NFL will dictate their next respective endeavors.
