Lions Trade For Jets WR Denzel Mims

Denzel Mims, who was going to be released by the Jets had they not found a trade partner, has been traded to the Detroit Lions, according to SNY’s NFL Reporter Connor Hughes.

The Lions are trading a conditional 6th round pick in 2025 to the Jets in exchange for a 2025 Jets 7th Rounder along with Mims, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported late Wednesday night.

Among the teams that were interested in acquiring Mims from the Jets — the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mims was one of the odd men left out in a stacked Jets’ wide receiver corps and has expressed his frustration for a while. He requested a trade out of New York previously and now gets what he ultimately desired.

For the Lions, they take a chance on a still-young receiver in Mims for a cheap price of a pick swap in 2025. The acquisition of Mims fills a void left by Jameson Williams’ six-game suspension in 2023 for violating the league’s gambling policy.
