Calvin Ridley, Falcons Heading Towards Divorce?

All-Pro Wide Receiver Calvin Ridley’s future with the Atlanta Falcons could be in jeopardy, according to NFL Network’s Steve Wyche. It appears as if the two sides might be headed for a fresh start, according to Wyche, and it could happen as soon as this off-season.

Ridley announced on October 31, 2021 that he was stepping away from football to focus on his mental wellbeing. He has not stepped foot on the field in a game since.

Since the announcement from Ridley on Halloween, no updates have been provided by Ridley himself or the Falcons. That was, until rumors began to swirl Wednesday afternoon. As the Wyche quote surfaced, ideas of the once virtually untouchable receiver being traded became the talk of the day.

While it isn’t very likely that Ridley is traded to a new team this off-season, here are two of the teams that could use him and have the assets to go and get him.

1: Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are scheduled to have three first-round draft picks in the 2022 NFL Draft and could use another wide receiver to bolster their receiving corps led by rookie DeVonta Smith. At what cost? The Eagles would be willing to spend a first-round pick in this draft in order to go and get Ridey, a source of knowledge said.

2: New England Patriots

New England could use a little boost to their receiving corps, which is headed by Jakobi Meyers and Nelson Agholor. The Patriots own their first round pick this season and could use it at the expense of the All-Pro Wide Receiver.
