Washington announced their new name on Wednesday morning — The Washington Commanders.
Many rumors surfaced on Tuesday that the team would be changing its name to the Commanders, but the team made their new “Commanders” name official this morning. They also announced that they will keep their traditional colors — red and yellow.
The Commanders finished with a record of 7-10 last year as the Washington Football Team.. and they looking at a bright future with young pieces on offense such as Antonio Gibson and Terry McLaurin. Chase Young, Jamin Davis, William Jackson III, and Benjamin St-Juste highlight the Commanders’ bright future on the defensive side of the ball.
Cornerback Benjamin St-Juste spoke with The Sports Place’s Arye Pulli late Tuesday night about the name change and the team’s bright future.
St-Juste was a rookie in 2021-22, but his season was cut short due to multiple concussions, forcing the team to place him on Injured Reserve after Week 12. In the games that he did play, starting in three of them, he totaled 29 tackles and 20 solo tackles.
When asked about his thoughts on the potential name ‘Commanders’, St-Juste said positive things about it:

On the Social Media part — video of a “Commanders” banner surfaced late Tuesday night from a helicopter, along with pictures of Commanders merchandise being leaked to Social Media platforms as well.
When asked about his expectations for the first season of the Commanders, St-Juste had an optimistic outlook :
Upwards is definitely an accurate expectation with the young and talented team. St-Juste and the Commanders will now look to the future, where they will look to show everyone what to expect from them with their new name.
As of right now, the future is looking very bright for the Washington Commanders. Things are changing, and they are changing fast.
