Cowboys Franchise Tag Dalton Schultz

The Dallas Cowboys have placed the franchise tag on Tight End Dalton Schultz, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Schultz is 25 years old and has stepped up as a weapon in the high-powered Cowboys offense in the past two seasons.

Being drafted in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Stanford alumni did not get much playing time in his first two years — but that changed in 2020.

During the 2020 season, Schultz had 615 yards and four touchdowns and in 2021-22, he caught 78 passes for 808 yards and bringing in eight touchdowns.

The franchise tag for tight ends is scheduled to be right under $11M for the 2022-23 season and Schultz will be making it as the Cowboys look to secure their young, reliable tight end long term.
