It seems as if a big part of the San Francisco 49ers is not happy with his team.
Deebo Samuel is just 26 years old and scored 14 touchdowns this past season, a sign that he is a blossoming star and one to watch in the years to come.
Samuel is going into the final year of his rookie contract with the 49ers and is looking for a new deal, but it seems as if he may be frustrated with his team.
It surfaced the internet on Thursday afternoon that Samuel unfollowed the 49ers on Instagram, a potential sign that he could be upset with his team.
Here is a picture of his Instagram following, showing that when you look up 49ers, they do not show up, meaning he is not following them.
This could be coincidental, or it could be not, but it is no secret that the 49ers have engaged with Samuel in some sort of extension talks this off-season.
The unfollowing comes a few hours after the Buffalo Bills signed their star wide receiver, Stefon Diggs, to a four-year $104 million extension.
Samuel had 180 more receiving yards than Diggs last season, 1,405, and 4 more total touchdowns, 14.
The 26-year old has a good argument going for him in that he’s not only 2-years younger than Diggs, but also brings more to the table. Samuel contributes in not only the receiving game, but also the running game, where offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel utilized him perfectly last season.
McDaniel did leave for Miami to become their new head coach, but 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and co will surely find ways to utilize Samuel in every aspect of their offense.
It will be something to watch in the coming weeks as the story develops. Will Samuel use his leverage to strike a massive deal, or will the 49ers hold pat and potentially lose one of their key weapons on offense?
