According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Deshaun Watson’s trade market is going to be strong once again.
Two teams in specific would be in on the star QB with legal troubles — Carolina and Seattle — but this may only happen if Watson’s legal troubles get some clarity provided soon.
Watson currently faces 10 criminal complaints from eight women and 22 civil cases. Eight women who filed criminal complaints against Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson were subpoenaed to appear before a grand jury Friday. This could provide some clarity on the situation.
The Panthers have been searching for a quarterback for the past few seasons, going quarterback to quarterback, from guys like Cam Newton to Sam Darnold to PJ Walker. Carolina has been rumored to be in on Watson before and now it seems like they are even more in on him.
Seattle is now in the quarterback market after trading away franchise quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos in exchange for TE Noah Fant, QB Drew Lock, DL Shelby Harris, two first-round picks, two second-round picks, and a fifth–round pick.
Houston reportedly was asking for five assets in total including three first-round picks, but with the package that Seattle receiver for a quarterback older and likely less valuable than Watson, the Texans QB may get unloaded for a huge haul.
What Could a Trade Package Look Like With Carolina?
The Panthers can offer some valuable draft capital in this season’s draft along with future seasons. They have an abundance of depth at the defensive back position and some of it may be expendable for them. If they want Watson bad, they are going to need to part ways with someone they love and second-year receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. may be the chosen one. So what is the trade for Watson?
- 2022, 2023 First-Round Pick
- 2022, 2023, 2026 Second-Round Pick
- 2023, 2024 Seventh Round Pick
What Could a Trade Package Look Like With Seattle?
The Seahawks are in a different situation draft-pick wise than the Panthers are. Seattle just acquired four high picks for Russell Wilson .. so why would you trade them away? What they do have, though, is Tyler Lockett, who the Seahawks are reportedly open to move. What is Seattle’s offer?
Who’s Offer Should Houston Take?
The most logical offer for Houston to take would be the Panthers’ offer as it would set the Texans into full rebuild mode with the ability to use draft capital on wherever they may please.
