Dodgers Add Pitching Support

The Los Angeles Dodgers are gearing up for another deep playoff push, creating another reunion in a trade with the Chicago White Sox.

The White Sox are dumping more pitching, sending veteran starter Lance Lynn and fan-favorite reliever Joe Kelly.

Kelly puts the Dodger blue back on after his three-year stint from 2018-2021. It was three years ago today in 2020 when Kelly became a legend in LA after throwing at Houston Astros Alex Bregman. It was the first meeting between the Dodgers and Astros since the 2017 World Series and the famous sign-stealing scandal. Kelly incited a brawl and mocked the Astros in what is now an infamous picture.

Lance Lynn has been regressing since his All-Star ‘21 season, where he finished third in the Cy Young race. He has a 6.47 ERA, giving up 28 home runs and letting in 86 runs. All of which is a career-high, and it’s not even August. Either way, he will eat innings and have a helpful veteran presence in the clubhouse.

The Dodgers returned two right-handed minor-league pitchers, Nick Nastrini, a starter, and Jordan Leasure, a reliever. To go along with outfielder Trace Thompson, who was initially drafted by Chicago.

Both pitchers have high strikeout numbers and could move through the minors quickly.
