Embiid Posts Triple-Double in Rout Of Houston

On Monday night, the 19-16 Philadelphia 76ers and 10-27 Houston Rockets squared off in Philly. Houston, being an inexperienced and struggling team, went into Philly to face a hot Philadelphia team who had won 4 of 5 heading in.

After one quarter of play, Joel Embiid already had 13 points and 4 boards, as fans began wondering if he could have a huge game. At halftime, it was a close affair as Houston was actually leading by one. By then, Embiid had 19 and 9.

In the second half, it was way different. Joel and the Sixers got off to a scorching hot start as they outscored Houston by 12 in the third. Then, in the 4th, the Sixers closed it out pretty easily. Embiid completed his triple double with 4:20 to go in the fourth with a nice assist to Seth Curry. The final score ended up being 133-113 with the 76ers coming out on top. Joel Embiid finished with 31 points on 12-20 shooting, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists.

Some other notable performances included 76ers F Furkan Korkmaz posting his first career double-double with 24, 11, and 6, and 76ers G Isaiah Joe with 18 off the bench. With this win, the 76ers have now won 4 in a row and move to 20-16 while the Rockets fall to 10-28.

Korkmaz was asked postgame if he knew this was his first career double-double:

“Furk, did you know that was your first career double-double?”

Korkmaz: [slight pause] Yeah.
