Report: Hawks, Celtics discussed Marcus Smart trade

See who Atlanta offered in exchange for Marcus Smart:

Before trading Cam Reddish to the New York Knicks, the Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics held trade talks on a deal involving Marcus Smart in exchange for Kevin Huerter and Cam Reddish, according to B/R’s Jake Fischer.

Fischer said that it is unclear on whether or not the talks got deep, but it will take ‘significant value’ in order for Boston to part ways with the Point Guard.

Smart is averaging 11.3 Points Per Game this season on 33.7 Minutes Per Game. Smart is shooting 39.2% from the field and 30.3% from three.

The trade could’ve been possible until Cam Reddish was dealt to the New York Knicks on January 13th:

The Hawks traded Solomon Hill, a 2022 first-round pick, and a 2025 second-round pick in exchange for Reddish and Kevin Knox.

While Smart being traded to the Hawks may not be a possibility anymore, the Guard could still be traded to another team.

The Utah Jazz were a team that has talked to the Celtics about Marcus Smart, a source told The Sports Place, but a trade with those two teams as of right now is not imminent. One name mentioned in the return to the Celtics — Joe Ingles

If the Celtics are to trade Smart, it will need to happen soon because the NBA’s trade deadline — February 10th at 3pm EST — is fast approaching and the market right now in terms of general trade suitors is booming.
