JMU QB Todd Centeio In Contact With 7 Teams: Source

JMU QB Todd Centeio In Contact With 7 Teams: Source

When you think of quarterback prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft, who do you think of?

Is it Bryce Young — the projected number-one overall pick? Anthony Richardson — a freakishly athletic quarterback who is slated to be selected in the front half of the first round? How about Hendon Hooker — a Heisman candidate until he suffered a knee injury.

Let me introduce you to James Madison University quarterback Todd Centeio.

In 2022, Centeio transferred to JMU after spending time at Colorado State (2020-21) and Temple (2017-19).

In just ten games at JMU during the 2022 season, he threw for 2,697 yards, 25 touchdowns, and had a QB rating of 116.5. He was named Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year.

Shortly following the season, Centeio announced that he would be declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft.

The 24-year-old has received interest from the NFL, likely as a late-round pick or preferred free agent. He has been in contact with seven NFL teams, a source told The Sports Place’s Arye Pulli.

Among the teams that have been showing the most interest, according to a source — the Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, and Philadelphia Eagles.

Only time will tell, though. Soon enough, Centeio will be latching on to a team and will be competing for a job. Brock Purdy came out of the seventh round last season. Could Centeio become this year’s Brock Purdy?
