New England Patriots Release Kyle Van Noy

According to Field Yates of ESPN, the New England Patriots will be releasing starting outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy.

Van Noy played in 16 games with the Patriots this season, starting eight. In the 16 games, Van Noy totaled 42 solo tackles along with five sacks and one interception.

The 30-year old and former second round draft pick will now be eligible to sign with any team in the open market.

The Patriots made the move with the salary cap in mind, creating just under $5M in cap space, giving them flexibility to turn elsewhere to sign players.
