Our team posted on our Instagram story on Wednesday asking our followers to send in questions. I will be answering them here as best as I can! Now I won’t waste any time — let’s get right into the questions
QUESTION: Who is your front-runner for MVP?
Right now, the season is young and there are a lot of factors that will ultimately decide who wins but my front-runners so far — Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Josh Allen is one of the most talented and polished quarterbacks in the league. He’s got weapons around him, a solid run game, and the ability to sling the ball, while also making sure the threat of him running sticks in the back of each defense’s mind. He is probably the true front-runner as of right now, but that’s sure to change.
Jalen Hurts is a more recent addition to the race for the esteemed honor. His offense, like Allen’s, has guys who are playmaking threats. A nifty little 3-0 start has boosted Hurts’ chances of getting the award, while he has posted 916 yards and four passing touchdowns — all while boasting a near league-high 106.5 passer rating.
Lamar Jackson has already done this before. He won the award in 2019 and has played at a high level for most of his career. His multi-dynamic game is a game planning nightmare for defenses that are preparing to face him. The days of the “running back” comments are now over, as Jackson is posting a league-high 119 passer rating, throwing for 749 yards and ten passing touchdowns.
QUESTION: Eagles — Contenders or Pretenders?
Philadelphia is an interesting one. Just one year ago, the Eagles won a mere nine games, losing in the Wild Card to the Buccaneers.
Jalen Hurts has taken a huge step not only as a player, but also as a leader. He is putting up an MVP caliber season — so far — and looks to continue.
The Eagles have coasted to a 3-0 record to start the season and have a high-powered offense, headed by Hurts, off-season acquasition A.J. Brown, and second-year receiver Devonta Smith. Miles Sanders mans the backfield while Dallas Goedert serves as a reliable tight end option.
Having the second-easiest strength of schedule helps, but Philadelphia has the potential to be contenders. Consistency will be key for them this season, but don’t be surprised if you see them in the NFC Championship.
QUESTION: Dolphins — Contenders or Pretenders?
The Dolphins are a tough one because of recent events. They lost to Cincinnati on Thursday, but they were also missing their star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Tagovailoa is very banged up, suffering from a concussion, a back injury, and an ankle injury — likely putting him out to miss some time. After he misses some time, Miami will be back at the top, therefore I say they are contenders.
Their high-powered offense is just too explosive. They should win a lot of games this season and could make a run in the playoffs.
Is Dalvin Cook washed?
The answer is simple. N-O.
Cook has 43 carries this season, averaging 4.7 yards per carry. His injuries may make his Fantasy Football play risky, but he is one of the top backs in the league.
He’s suffering from a labral tear in his shoulder, but he has been dealing with it for a while so he’s used to it, and he will likely continue suiting up with a shoulder harness.
Starting a Franchise: Joe Burrow or Justin Herbert
To start — both quarterbacks are great. Any franchise would be more than happy to have either one.
Joe Burrow is a winner. He has won at almost every level of football. He led his team to the Super Bowl last season, won the National Championship at LSU, and made it to the state championship in high school. He is a great team player and quarterback overall.
Justin Herbert has the intangibles. He can sling the ball like no other. He can use his legs to evade the defenders. He shows the ability to make the right play.
Herbert’s potential is just too overwhelming to not take, therefore my pick — Justin Herbert.
