NYC to Lift Vaccine Mandates For Athletes

The talk surrounding Kyrie Irving not playing home games can now be put to rest.

On Thursday, New York City will change the private sector vaccine mandate to allow exemption for athletes and entertainers in workplaces, affecting MLB and NBA players who could not play.

All unvaccinated Mets and Yankees players were not allowed to play this season at home prior to this change in the mandate as well as Kyrie Irving, who couldn’t play home games for the Nets.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams is expected to make the official announcement on Thursday at Citi Field, which is where the New York Mets play.
