Report: Goodell Negotiating 4th Deal

Roger Goodell is negotiating a contract extension for the fourth time in his time as commissioner, according to Sports Business Journal.

The league denied this report, with Brian McCarthy, the leagues’ vice president of communications, saying that it is false: “There is no truth to this report.”

One owner told Sports Business Journal that Goodell is at his peak, saying: “He’s at the top of his game right now, why would we want him walking out the door?

Roger Goodell, commissioner of the NFL since 2006, has reportedly made a whopping $63.9 million in each of the past two seasons.

A source told Sports Business Journal that Goodell’s negotiations are centered on extending his current deal for between two to four years beyond its expiration date of March 2024.

Goodell has negotiated labor peace through the 2030 NFL season, handled the COVID-19 pandemic during the past two seasons, has signed upwards of $110 Billion in TV deals, and has seen a boost in viewership.
