The sweepstakes to sign free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is taking shape as Thanksgiving has come and gone.
It has been reported that Beckham Jr. has multiple suitors, including the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, and Buffalo Bills.
According to FOX Sports, OBJ will be visiting the Dallas Cowboys on Monday, December 5th — just a day after Dallas plays on Sunday Night Football vs the Indianapolis Colts.
The Buffalo Bills are a team to watch out for when it comes to Beckham due to his relationships with team brass, a source said, but Buffalo isn’t viewed as the favorite to land him.
Buffalo is sitting atop the AFC East, sporting a record of 8-3. The Bills most recently edged a 28-25 win vs the Lions on Thanksgiving day.
OBJ is especially close with Bills linebacker Von Miller, who he played with last season on the Los Angeles Rams.
While the Bills are viewed as a dark horse, Buffalo is exactly the type of team Beckham wants to join.
The New York Giants, who are located just over 350 miles away from Buffalo, are still “optimistic” that they can land the free-agent wide receiver, despite losing to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving day, a source tells The Sports Place’s Arye Pulli.
Some high up in the organization, as of Thanksgiving day, believe that OBJ will ultimately end up reuniting with New York — the team that his career began with, the source said.
In his time with the Giants from 2014-2018, Beckham had 5,476 receiving yards and 44 receiving touchdowns.
In August of 2018, New York rewarded Beckham with a five-year, $90 Million contract extension.
Just seven short months later, he was traded to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for Jabrill Peppers, Kevin Zeitler, a 2019 first-round pick, and a 2019 third-round pick.
Beckham was traded from the Giants due to off-the-field concerns with belief that they would only get worse as time went on.
Now, Beckham is strongly considering returning and a return could well-benefit the team as New York’s wide receiver corps’ has been lackluster.
Beginning the season, a wide receiver room of Kenny Golladay, Sterling Shepard, and Kadarius Toney seemed solid, but that could not have been further from the truth.
Golladay has been nursing injuries and frustrations all season, Shepard tore his ACL early on in the season, and Toney was traded to the Chiefs after a lack of playing time.
Now, a wide receiver room headed by Darius Slayton could be bolstered with the addition of Beckham, who is now 30 years old.
