Source: Odell Beckham Jr. Suffers Torn ACL in Super Bowl Victory

Rams Wide Receiver Odell Beckham Jr. went down with a non-contact knee injury during last nights Super Bowl 56 victory for the Rams.

With 3:50 left in the second quarter, Matthew Stafford threw a pass to Odell Beckham Jr, who went to catch the ball, bobbled it, and planted hard on his left knee. Beckham dropped the ball and immediately went down in pain, holding his knee.

As the Rams went on to win the game, he was ruled out of the game. The team said that he would not return with a knee injury.

Beckham — posting 52 yards and a touchdown on two catches prior to the injury — underwent an MRI on his knee on Monday after celebrating with his team.

The results of the MRI revealed what was feared, per source — a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL). Beckham will undergo surgery to repair the injury and is expected to make a full recovery.

After signing with the Rams in early November, Odell Beckham Jr. is scheduled to become a free-agent this off-season. Before the Super Bowl, it was reported that Beckham would love to return to LA on a potentially discounted deal.

After the injury, not much should change in terms of interest. While the Rams do have lots of decisions to make on free-agents, they should be able to bring him back to the team, but that would be leaving a decision to make at Wide Receiver — should the Rams keep Van Jefferson or Robert Woods.. or should they keep both?

Beckham is 29 years old and after a rough few years with the Browns, he has re-established himself as a legitimate threat at all times — especially in a high-powered offense like the Rams’ offense.
