The Tennessee Titans announced that they have designated Derrick Henry to return off of Injured Reserve opening his 21-day practice window. Henry did indeed practice with the team today.

Henry has been on injured reserve since November 1st after suffering a foot fracture in the Titans’ 34-31 win against the Indianapolis Colts on October 31st. In just eight games this season, King Henry has totaled 937 yards and 10 touchdowns.

At the time of his injury, he was the NFL’s leading rusher and was on pace to break several NFL records including…

Most carries in a season, which is currently 416.

Most rush yards in a season, which is currently 2,105.

Most offensive touches in a season, which is currently 492.

First RB to follow up 2,000 yard rushing season with 1,500 yard rushing season.

First RB to have back-to-back 2,000 yard seasons.

4th RB in NFL history to lead NFL in rushing 3 straight years, which would put him in company with Jim Brown, Earl Campbell, and Emmitt Smith.

Even though Henry only played in eight games this season before being injured, he still managed to break a record:

This Sunday, the Titans face off against the Texans. If the Titans win, they secure the number one seed in the AFC, giving them a first round bye. A bye for the Titans would be extremely beneficial as it would give the team a chance to rest and recover, especially for players like Henry.
