Tom Brady Announces Retirement

The reports were true ..

On Saturday morning, Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington of ESPN put out a report that detailed that Tom Brady was set to retire after 22 seasons.

Almost immediately after the report was put out, many people disputed the report saying that Brady had not made a decision at that time, which could have been true.

Brady even went on his podcast, “Let’s Go”, on Monday night to say that he still had not made a decision, saying:

“I’m still going through the process I said I was going through. … When the time’s right, I’ll be ready to make a decision one way or the other.”

Shortly after 9:30 AM EST, Tom Brady shared his retirement announcement on Instagram and soon after posting it to Twitter:

“This is difficult for me to write, but here it goes: I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore. I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention.”

He showed lots of gratitude to those who supported him along the way:

“To my Bucs teammates the past two years, I love you guys, and I have loved going to battle with you… You have dug so deep to challenge yourself, and it inspired me to wake up every day and give you my best. I am always here for you guys and want to see you continue to push yourselves to be your best.”

Brady — who will definitely be a Hall Of Famer — won seven total Super Bowls with the Patriots and Buccaneers, including five Super Bowl MVPs. He went to 15 total Pro Bowls and won 3 MVP’s.

The Buccaneers will now look for a new quarterback, which might be found in the draft this year or could be found through Free Agency or via trade.
