Trevon Diggs, Cowboys Agree To Massive Extension

Trevon Diggs was set to be entering the final year of his rookie contract with the Dallas Cowboys in 2023.

Now, neither side will have to worry about the Pro Bowl cornerback hitting free agency next season. Diggs, the 24-year-old superstar cornerback has agreed to a five-year contract extension with Dallas worth $97 million, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported on Tuesday afternoon.

Trevon, the younger brother of Bills superstar receiver Stefon Diggs, has quickly emerged onto the scene as the Cowboys’ top cornerback over the past few years.

He has a career 17 interceptions in his three seasons and is sure to add more over the course of his big extension.

The $97 million deal includes a $21.25 million signing bonus along with incentives that could bring the deal up to $104 million.

Diggs’ contract extension comes as no surprise to those who have closely followed his career trajectory.

Ever since joining the Dallas Cowboys as a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Diggs has displayed remarkable growth and consistency. His ability to read quarterbacks, anticipate plays, and make crucial interceptions has earned him widespread recognition as one of the league’s top young cornerbacks.

Both Diggs and the Cowboys were focused on avoiding any distractions during the upcoming season, and they managed to finalize the deal just at the start of training camp.

As the Cowboys continue to build their roster for the upcoming season, securing Diggs for the long term opens up additional opportunities for player acquisition.

With their star cornerback locked in, Dallas can focus on addressing other areas of their team, ensuring they have the depth and talent required to make a deep playoff run.
