Tristian Thompson Bought Out by Pacers; Intends to Sign With Chicago Bulls

The Indiana Pacers and center Tristan Thompson are finalizing a buyout agreement, according to Pacers Head Coach Rick Carlisle. Carlisle had this to say about Tristan Thompson being waived from the team:

“He’s going to be waived tomorrow, and he’ll be joining a contending team in the East.”

When asked about where Thompson would be headed, Carlisle continued:

“A little bit north, if anybody wants to tweet. Starts with a ‘C’ and ends with an ‘O.’ … Chicago, if anybody didn’t get that.”

Thompson, 30, was traded by the Sacramento Kings before the deadline in a huge trade that was headlined by Domantas Sabonis and Tyrese Haliburton.

Last night in his final game with the Pacers, he had his best game — posting 17 points and 6 rebounds in just 21 minutes.

Thompson has averaged just 6.2 points per game this season and should serve as a good backup center for the contending Chicago Bulls.
