TSP’s NFL Season Predictions – Awards and Champion Edition: A Breakdown

Here we are, ladies and gentlemen. We’ve made it, through a long and winding road of an offseason. We have made it. But guess what? Instead of savoring the fresh smell of September football, we here are TSP have decided to try and predict what might happen in January. Because why the heck not? This piece is a continuation of the previous piece where we predicted all the week one matchups, which if you haven’t already you should go read.

The writers here at TSP will try to predict all the major awards, such as Most Valuable Player, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Defensive Rookie of the Year, Offensive Rookie of the Year, and Coach of the Year. This piece also includes our predicted Super Bowl match-up and Super Bowl MVP. May the best writer win!

Coach of the Year

This award was won by Giants head coach Brian Daboll this past season due to his team’s unexpected success and playoff berth in his first season in town. Who will it be this season?

Defensive Rookie of the Year

Sauce Gardner ran away with this award last season with his stellar season, even though there was a case for Lions rookie Aiden Hutchinson to win this award as well.

Offensive Rookie of the Year

Garrett Wilson’s amazing 2022 campaign led to him beating out Seattle’s Kenneth Walker and San Francisco’s Brock Purdy for this award. This year’s winner may have to mount similar numbers as Wilson did as well.

Defensive Player of the Year

49ers defensive end Nick Bosa beat out many contenders, including Dallas’ Micah Parsons and Chiefs’ Chris Jones for the DPOY award last year. Bosa led the league in both sacks and QB hits last season, which made him the front-runner for the award.

Offensive Player of the Year

Justin Jefferson snagged this award in 2022 behind a year where he put up video game stats as Kirk Cousins’ primary target. Jefferson is primed to repeat in 2023 but will have to face a tough group of challengers, just like he did last year.

Most Valuable Player

Patrick Mahomes won this award last season, and it wasn’t close for most of the year. There was a strong case for Justin Jefferson but in the end, we all know that this award should be renamed to “Best Quarterback in the League”.
